Under the Sacred Rock of Acropolis and next to Monastiraki, is Plaka.
It’s the oldest neighborhood of Athens and as the visitors can see, the most picturesque and traditional part of the city. Byzantine Churches, old houses, a lot of trees and few cars makes Plaka the perfect part of the town for a relaxing evening and a small trip to the past.
You should visit the Churches of Ayios Ioannis Theologos and Ayios Nicolaos Ragavas of the 11th Century AD, see the Tower of the Winds at the west, made by Andronikos at the 2nd Century AD and walk in Anafiotika neighborhood, with the traditional houses that constructors from the Cycladic island Anafi built.
In Plaka you will find a lot of restaurants and at Mnisikleous street tavernas where you may enjoy the – so called – Greek Night, with shows dedicated to Greek dancing. The whole show
