Psiri

Psiri, craftsmen and Greek nightlife

Psiri is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Athens nested between Athinas shopping street, Monastiraki square and Square of Agion Asomaton (Thissio). Right next to picturesque Plaka it used to be and still is, the folks' area.

Simple to everything, from the architecture to the way people wander around, Psirri and its unique style is the place to relax and come as you are. Traditional small cafes and taverns, local handicraft shops that are hidden in the smaller alleys and even some schools of art are located here.

The whole scenic seems that it is out of a theatrical street performance, where every single person has his role to play and seems to be undistracted and completely dedicated to this.

People hanging around with casual clothing and happy faces and tourists try to catch the mood of the rest and follow the locals to their rhythm of life.

There are more than two places to sit and enjoy unbelievably tasteful, traditional sweets freshly made and served in enormous portions. Always busy places but with professional staff in lovely environments.

Psiri features and some small theatres too, nightclubs and many bars serve amazing cocktails and drinks. Furthermore, some of the newest hotels, hostels, and hotel apartments are built here the last ten years with really successful brand names and good reputation worldwide.

It is for sure the place to visit all day long for knowing something not ordinary at all, lively and so Athenian.
