What to pack for Athens
While preparing your trip to Athens, you will definitely be wondering “What should I pack for Athens?”. This is probably one of the most common questions when you start packing for a new trip. “How will be the weather in Athens” and “what I will do there” are among others the two first things crossing your mind.
Athens, to get started with, is the city knowing for its ideal climate in Greece. Even on winter time, apart from December and February, it is not too cold so you will not be able to go out for a walk or have a cup of coffee or lunch outside.
The warmest you feel the better it will be for you of course, just do not go so far with it! A couple of sweaters and some scarfs, a pair of gloves just in case and long trousers along with your all-time-classic coat will do fine on the cold nights and mornings. Prepare yourself for long walks all day long so one or two pairs of comfortable shoes are necessary.
Athens Dress Code
Athenians love to dress up on special occasions, so if you are planning to visit the city during festive periods, you have to take with you as well some chicer and evening clothing. Though, the locals’ favorite “wear-to-impress outfit” is the progressive casual chic, so you can leave behind all the excessive haute couture gowns and get ready for more mix and match choices!
Athens is full of choices and mini wonders no matter how you like to spend your nights and days while on a journey abroad. This is the main factor that plays the biggest role as far as your clothes in your suitcase are concerned. For example, you can spend the most of the trip’s time visiting museum and galleries, or be going on live concerts and in the National Opera, walking all day long in flea markets and in the shopping streets of Athens maybe or even taking different classes of almost anything you can imagine.
All in all, your personal interests are those that will define eventually what you should take with you or not while visiting Athens. If you would like to combine things to do, however, then you should pack a bigger suitcase for sure, because in Athens, apart from the general aspect “come as you are”, people enjoy to dress depending on the event, and so to honor in some way the formality of the situation each time.
