Located just under the south slope of the Acropolis Sacred Rock, the New Museum of Acropolis is fairly considered to be the Gem of Athens! A brand new museum that displays in a unique way the priceless sculptures and reliefs of the Acropolis.

The New Acropolis Museum's architectures let natural light in, connecting the monuments with the exterior, where they were initially placed and offering visitors direct view to the actual ancient ruins area. The Museum is in fact an architecture monument itself;  created with glass, concrete and marble it is a contemporary building that respects both the Acropolis and the monuments that it hosts.  More than 4000 artifacts are presented in a way that allows visitors to view them from various vantage points.Visit the New Acropolis Museum before you visit Acropolis itself. You'll get a really good idea of what you'll see afterwards on the hill!

The exhibits are divided in three galleries. The Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis houses finds from the slope of the Acropolis, the Archaic Gallery includes sculptures from the Archaic Period, while at the top floor visitors can watch a video presentation of the Parthenon and visit the Parthenon Gallery.  Temporary exhibitions are hosted periodically.

The Acropolis Museum of Athens is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday (from 8 am to 8 pm) and the ticket costs 5 euros per person. You may find more information about the museum and purchase your Acropolis Museum tickets online at www.theacropolismuseum.gr .
