So, in Athens you are going to use Euros. One Euro is divided in 100 cents. In Greek (though Euro as a word is understandable) Euro is called Evro (Ευρώ) and Cent is called Lepto (Λεπτό). Plurals are Evro (Euros) and Lepta (Cents).

Drachma was used in Greece for thousands of years before it was replaced in 2001 by Euro.

The shopping centres for visitors in Athens are Plaka and Monastiraki. But there are other places that one can go for shopping and find better and cheaper things. For Top Branded shopping you can go to Ermou Str., or visit the nearby Attica Centre at Panepistimiou Str..

Another choice for such shopping is going with the Metro to The Mall Athens, at Neratziotissa Station.

For Book Stores you may visit Eleftheroudakis at Panepistimiou Str. and Patakis at Academia’s Str., near Syntagma Square and at Kolonaki Area, too. High Tech funs will find all the stores of that kind at Stournari Str., next to Polytechnion (NTUA, Technological University). However, the best place for shopping in Greece is the store of your neighborhood (the little shop at the corner), where you ‘ll find a most interesting way of shopping, the traditional one.

Probably yes...  Greeks use the European Style two pin sockets and electricity comes at 220V, 50 Hz AC.  So, if in your country you use different plugs then you 'll definetely need to get some power adapter with you.  Most hotels in Athens will provide you with an adapter if you ask for it, but usually one is not enough.  Of course you can still buy one at the electricity shops of the touristic areas or at the airport.  Also, if you live in a country with 110 V do not forget that you will also need a power transformer to 220V.
