Cinema is one of the most popular ways of entertainment in Athens.
Various multiplex or small cinemas of the neighborhoods show a great variety of films. Most of them play Hollywood movies, usually at the same period that they are played abroad, but you can also watch to Greek, European or Asian movies, too.
A reason that cinema is so popular in Athens is that it is much cheaper than other ways of entertainment. Ticket price for a movie, depending on the theatres quality, varies from 6 to 8 euros (apr. 7.5 to 10 dollars), while there are also some almost private cinemas, such as Village Gold Cinemas at the Mall Athens.
Online Movie Guides such as Athinorama and Cine are in Greek but it’s not difficult even for a foreigner to understand the name of the play (choose to see the original title), the time of the play and the name of the cinema.
